How to Use
Getting Started
- Press + New Reading on the home screen
- Choose Paste Text to type or paste, or Upload File to open a document
- Press Play — words highlight as they’re read aloud
Playback Controls
- Play / Pause
- Start or pause the reading
- Stop
- Stop reading and reset position
- Restart
- Go back to the beginning
- Speed pills
- Pick a speed (0.5x–2x) to change how fast the text is read
Customization
Open Settings to personalize your experience:
- Font — Switch to OpenDyslexic for improved readability
- Theme — Light or Dark mode
- Accent Color — Choose a highlight color that works for you
- Text Size & Spacing — Make reading more comfortable
- Reading Overlay — Add a color tint for reduced eye strain
- Voice — Uses your browser's default voice (more options coming soon)
Supported Files
- PDF — text-based PDFs (not scanned images)
- Word — .docx files
- Text — .txt, .md, .csv, .html, .xml
- EPUB — e-book files
Tips
- On desktop, press Spacebar to play/pause while reading
- Press Ctrl+Enter to start reading after pasting text
- Use the B button in the reader for bionic reading (bold fixation points)
- Use the lines button for line focus mode (dims surrounding text)
- Your recent readings are saved on the home screen for quick replay
- AT Reader remembers your position when you leave mid-reading
- AT Reader works offline after your first visit
